CUSTOM KITCHEN ISLAND INSTALLATION IN DAYTONA BEACH

An island is the piece most homeowners want and the one most often done badly. Done right, it adds the counter space you never had, the storage the perimeter cabinets could not hold, and a place where people actually gather while someone is cooking. Done wrong, it is a large obstacle in the middle of a room you now have to walk around.

THE CLEARANCES THAT DECIDE EVERYTHING

The difference between a great island and a frustrating one comes down to inches. You need working room on every side, enough space for a dishwasher door to open fully, and room for someone to pass behind a person standing at the counter. Squeeze that and the island becomes the reason the kitchen feels tight rather than the reason it works.

There is also the question of what goes in it. A sink or cooktop means plumbing or gas has to reach the middle of the room, which usually means opening the floor. Seating means an overhang deep enough for knees, supported properly so it does not flex. Outlets are required by code and need to be placed where they are usable but not visible from the entry. None of that is difficult, but all of it has to be decided before anything gets built.

WHAT AN ISLAND CAN DO

Islands solve different problems in different kitchens. Here is where they usually earn their space.

  • Prep and counter space — the working surface most kitchens are short on
  • Storage — deep drawers, pull outs, and cabinetry the perimeter walls cannot fit
  • Seating — a place for two or four people without adding a separate table
  • A second sink — prep sink separate from the main cleanup zone
  • Cooktop relocation — moving the range to the island opens up the perimeter wall entirely

HOW WE BUILD THEM

IS YOUR KITCHEN BIG ENOUGH?

Not every kitchen fits one, and we will tell you that up front. If the room is tight, a peninsula or a rolling cart may do more for you than a permanent island that makes the space harder to use.

FIND OUT WHAT FITS

The first question is always whether your kitchen has room, and that takes ten minutes to answer properly. We come out, measure the space, and tell you honestly whether an island works, what size it should be, and what it would involve. If the answer is no, you will hear that too, along with what we would do instead.
